The route and the city mountains
Experience Bergen's city mountains
Bergen Mountain Marathon is a half marathon from Montana to Skansemyren.
Most of the elevation gain is covered in the first 3 kilometers until you reach the top of Ulriken. From there, the route follows undulating terrain across Vidden before crossing over to Vareggen. When you reach the Vikinghytten cabin on Vareggen, you are halfway, and there is a hydration station there. The route then continues toward Rundemanen. From Rundemanen, the trail goes east of Store Tindevann and down Blåmansveien. The finish is via the floodlit trail past the upper Fløibanen station and down to the finish line at Skansemyren.
The unique atmosphere
Spots for the Bergen Mountain Marathon sell out in record time. The stunning route is one of the reasons, but the very special atmosphere at the finish area also draws people in. At the finish line, freshly grilled burgers await 3000 runners, and the stadium is filled with lively conversation as runners enjoy great food and drinks together.
LIVE music
LIVE music from the stage at the finish line also helps create a truly unique experience. The results list rolls across the big screen, tired runners receive their well-deserved medals, and Red Bull is on hand to provide an energy boost to exhausted participants.
